A Socio-medical Survey on the Physically Handcapped

Abstract
|
|
|
A socio-medical survey on the physically handcapped persons had carried out in period of 11 to 19 January and 7 to 18 March in 1963 to persons of 188 males and 59 females, and the following conclusions were obtained.
1) The congenital cases had occupied with the rate of 4.2% in male and 16.8% in female, whereas the highest rate was shown at the age-group of 10~19 in male and of 0~9 in female.
2) Regarding the causes of handicaps, the labouring ranked the highest in both sexes and residuas in the next in order.
3) The most frequent handicaps were shown at extremities in male with the rate of 64.2% and paralysis in female with the rate of 44.5%.
4) Regarding the degree of mobility, the completely handicapped cases had occupied with 27.6% in both sexes respectively.
